Oxford Police Nab Suspect in Theft of Elderly Man’s Wallet

OXFORD, PAOxford Police have arrested a Phoenixville man accused of stealing a wallet from a 93-year-old customer at a local gas station earlier this month.

Authorities say 48-year-old Samuel Twyman was taken into custody on August 18, 2025, at approximately 3:10 p.m. after officers observed him in the unit block of South Third Street. He was transported by constables to Chester County Prison to await arraignment.

Twyman was wanted on a criminal warrant issued on August 6 by the Oxford District Court. The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred the same day at the Sunoco gas station located at 203 South Third Street.

According to police, the victim told officers that while pumping gas, he placed his wallet on the trunk of his car. When he looked back, the wallet was gone. Witnesses reported seeing a man, later identified as Twyman, walking away from the area. Surveillance video reviewed by investigators allegedly shows Twyman taking the wallet and walking behind the store. A search of the area at the time was unsuccessful.

Twyman has been charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

Police emphasize that all charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
