PROSPECT PARK, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the upcoming closure of southbound Route 420 (Wanamaker Avenue) in Prospect Park Borough and Tinicum Township for bridge construction as part of a $36 million infrastructure project.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM on Friday, August 8, and remain in effect until 6:00 AM on Monday, August 11. The affected segment stretches from 4th Avenue to Interstate 95.
During this time, southbound motorists will be directed to follow a detour using U.S. 13 (Chester Pike), Stewart Avenue, and northbound I-95 to return to Route 420.
The work is part of an extensive effort to replace the dual bridges over Darby Creek, aimed at improving safety and structural reliability on this heavily traveled corridor.
Drivers should anticipate delays and plan accordingly. All work is weather dependent.
