SOUTH HEIDELBERG TWP, PA — Authorities in Berks County are investigating a deadly motor vehicle crash that occurred early Wednesday morning in South Heidelberg Township, prompting temporary road closures and an ongoing inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the South Heidelberg Township Police Department, the collision was reported at approximately 6:06 a.m. on July 30, 2025. The crash took place in the 6600 block of Penn Avenue, near the intersection with Old West Penn Avenue.
Emergency responders arrived on scene shortly after the incident was reported. The roadway was closed in both directions for nearly two hours, reopening around 8:00 a.m. following the completion of initial investigative and cleanup efforts.
Authorities have confirmed that the crash resulted in at least one fatality, though details regarding the individuals involved, the number of vehicles, and the cause of the crash have not yet been released. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
