Two Wilmington Men Charged After Alleged Daylight Vehicle Burglary Spree

WILMINGTON, DE — Two Wilmington men have been arrested and charged in connection with a daytime burglary involving multiple vehicles, according to city police.

On July 23, 2025, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Wilmington Police responded to a reported burglary on the 100 block of Hay Road. An investigation revealed that two individuals allegedly removed property from several vehicles at the scene and caused damage to at least one of them.

Following the investigation, police identified the suspects as 20-year-old Zephone Mace and 18-year-old Jovani Velasques-Ramirez. Both individuals were taken into custody without incident.

Mace faces multiple charges, including two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of theft under $1,500, second-degree conspiracy, and one count of criminal mischief under $1,000. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $3,800 unsecured bail.

Velasques-Ramirez has been charged with the same offenses: two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of theft under $1,500, second-degree conspiracy, and criminal mischief under $1,000. He was also arraigned and released on $2,900 unsecured bail.

No injuries were reported, and the extent of the property damage has not been disclosed. The Wilmington Police Department has not indicated whether additional suspects are being sought.

As in all criminal proceedings, both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation remains ongoing.
