Brace for Delays! Major U.S. 422 Roadwork Set to Impact Chester & Montgomery Counties

Traffic, lane closed

NORTH COVENTRY TWP, PA — Roadwork on U.S. 422 is set to resume next week in North Coventry Township, Chester County, and Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced. Motorists traveling in these areas should prepare for temporary lane closures and detours that could lead to significant delays.

From Monday, May 19, through Thursday, May 22, lane closures will occur nightly on the eastbound lanes of U.S. 422 between the Armand Hammer Boulevard and Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) interchanges. Scheduled work will take place from 4 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and involves roadway reconstruction as part of the ongoing improvement project.

Additionally, from Monday, May 19, through Friday, May 23, daytime closures will affect the eastbound U.S. 422 ramp to Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) in North Coventry Township. The closure will be in place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., allowing for geotechnical borings to evaluate subsurface conditions. During this period, motorists will follow a detour directing traffic to continue on eastbound U.S. 422, exit at Keim Street, and then re-enter westbound U.S. 422 to access Route 100.

PennDOT warns drivers that delays are likely in the affected areas and encourages the use of alternate routes, if possible. “Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work areas because backups and delays will occur,” PennDOT stated. All activities are dependent on weather conditions.
