CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has commenced pavement repair operations throughout Chester County to address the impacts of this season’s rapid freeze-thaw cycles, known to cause extensive pothole formation.
This repair effort comes as part of PennDOT’s ongoing maintenance program in the Philadelphia region, where fluctuating temperatures have heightened road deterioration. Since January 1, 2025, District 6 has received over 3,200 pothole-related reports via PennDOT’s Customer Care Center.
Crews will focus on repairing pavement at key locations, including
- U.S. 1 in New Garden and Kennett townships,
- U.S. 202 in Tredyffrin, East Whiteland, and West Goshen townships, as well as
- Route 100 in West Whiteland and West Goshen.
Other affected areas include
- Route 162 in Newlin and West Bradford townships,
- Chestnut Tree Road in Honeybrook Township,
- Corner Ketch Road in East Brandywine Township,
- Hollow Road in West Vincent Township, and
- Merlin Road in Charlestown Township.
Motorists traveling through these areas should prepare for potential travel restrictions and slowdowns near work zones. PennDOT urges drivers to slow down, remain vigilant, and avoid distractions to ensure the safety of both travelers and maintenance crews.
Repair operations will continue at each site until all designated areas are addressed. However, all activities are subject to weather conditions and may be rescheduled as necessary.
