Drive-by Shooting at Claymont Traffic Light Leaves Man Injured

CLAYMONT, DE — Authorities are investigating a late-night shooting that left a 37-year-old man injured at a busy intersection in Claymont.

According to the New Castle County Division of Police, officers were alerted on Thursday, February 20, around 11:44 p.m., when staff at ChristianaCare Wilmington Hospital reported that a man had arrived at the emergency room with a gunshot wound.

Investigators revealed that the victim was inside his vehicle at the intersection of Society Drive and Naamans Road, waiting for the traffic signal to change, when the shooting occurred. Despite his injuries, the victim managed to drive himself to the hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit have taken over the case.
