KENNETT SQUARE, PA — Longwood Gardens, renowned for its horticultural displays and educational programs, has just announced two upcoming workshops for young enthusiasts aged 10-16. These hands-on workshops will provide an engaging learning experience while sparking creativity and a love for nature.

The first workshop, titled “Stylish Houseplants,” is scheduled for Saturday, October 28 from 9 am to noon. This session promises to be a unique encounter with the world of houseplants. Participants will learn about Kokedama – a Japanese moss ball in which an ornamental plant grows. The kids will be guided to DIY their own Kokedama moss balls, turning regular houseplants into living pieces of art. The workshop will also cover essential plant care tips, including watering, repotting, and managing common plant pests. All materials will be provided, and no prior experience is required.

On Sunday, November 5, Longwood Gardens invites young artists to the “Watercolors in the Meadow” workshop. From 9 am to noon, participants will have the opportunity to capture the beauty of fall’s changing colors using watercolor painting techniques. Drawing inspiration from the grand branches and subdued hues of the Meadow Garden, the workshop will delve into color theory, pigment value, and texture. This event is appropriate for all skill levels, and all materials will be provided.

These workshops reflect Longwood Gardens’ commitment to inspire young minds through interactive and educational experiences. Both events promise a fun-filled morning of learning and creativity, providing the tools and knowledge to cultivate a lifelong appreciation for nature and art.

Seats are limited for these exclusive workshops. Interested participants are encouraged to act quickly to ensure their spot. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse your children in the wonders of nature and art at Longwood Gardens.
