WEST CHESTER, PA — The vibrant streets of West Chester are about to burst into a kaleidoscope of colors, joy, and solidarity as the much-anticipated Chester County OutFest makes its triumphant return. This year’s festivities, slated for October 14, 2023, aren’t just another annual event; they’re a beacon of love, resilience, and progress in the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights.
Chester County OutFest has always been a melting pot of diverse individuals coming together to celebrate their unique identities and promote LGBTQ+ awareness. However, this year’s festival is set to be an even more empowering experience as it coincides with LGBTQ+ History Month and National Coming Out Day, making it a time of reflection, celebration, and encouragement for the LGBTQ+ community.
The main stage, pulsing with energy, will spotlight an array of talented performers, including the likes of DJ Triple B, Aubrey Jones, Alexis Cunningham, Sylvia Fisher, and a host of fabulous drag queens. The highlight of the day? A delightful drag show where the 2024 Ms. Chester County Pride will be crowned.
A stroll through the Vendor Village will take attendees on a journey of artistic expression and local entrepreneurship, featuring merchandise that supports LGBTQ+ rights and inclusivity. It’s also an opportunity to tantalize your taste buds with food and beverages from West Chester’s top-notch restaurants.
For families attending the event, the Youth and Family Zone offers age-appropriate activities and games, fostering an environment for open conversations about diversity and acceptance. Of course, no family zone would be complete without a local face painter adding a splash of fun!
The festival’s commitment to the community extends beyond celebration, with the LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County and other local advocacy groups providing resources and support for those who need it most.
But the festivities don’t stop when the sun goes down. The after-party at Artillery Brewing, featuring the newly crowned 2023 Ms. Chester County Pride and favorite drag queens, will keep the celebration going long into the night.
Chester County OutFest is more than just a festival — it’s a testament to the strength and unity of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. As LGBT Equality Alliance President, Carrie Stare, puts it, “West Chester is better than that” in reference to overcoming previous years’ hate incidents.
