COVID-19

As the COVID-19 pandemic upends society, MyChesCo is gathering in one place all the latest news and insights impacting Chester County, Pennsylvania.

 

Information About COVID-19
COVID-19 is a novel strain of coronavirus that causes mild flu-like symptoms, but severe cases can be fatal.

 

According to the CDC, COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Infected people have had a wide range of symptoms reported – from mild symptoms to severe illness.

 

Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

 

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Look for emergency warning signs for COVID-19. If someone is showing any of these signs, seek emergency medical care immediately:

 

  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion
  • Inability to wake or stay awake
  • Bluish lips or face

If you develop symptoms, the Chester County Health Department is advising you to stay home and call your healthcare provider.

 

If symptoms worsen, contact your healthcare provider or call 9-1-1 emergency and seek care immediately. Let them know of your potential exposure to COVID-19.
