BERWYN, PA — Todd Conrad, Head Coach of Team Upper Main Line YMCA (UMLY) and Associate Executive Director of UMLY, has been named the 2025 Coach of the Meet at the YMCA National Long Course Swimming Championship in Ocala, Florida. The honor, awarded annually and voted on by fellow coaches, recognizes outstanding leadership and overall team performance.
Conrad’s recognition follows a record-setting showing for Team UMLY at the 2025 YMCA Swimming National Championships, marking one of the most successful performances in the program’s history. Under the guidance of Conrad and Competitive Aquatics Director Owen Edwards, the women’s team captured the national title for the first time in 31 years.
Among the standout performances, Ellie McNamara claimed individual national championships in both the 400- and 1500-meter freestyle. She also led off the 800 freestyle relay team — joined by Keilani Silva, Paige Fisher, and Whitney Kane — to another national victory. On the men’s side, Sebastian Tith secured the national title in the 100-meter breaststroke, making it the first time in program history that UMLY celebrated both a male and female individual national champion on the same day.
The combined team placed third overall in the nation.
“Todd and Owen continue to set a high standard for our entire association, with a leadership style that reflects care, commitment, and dedication,” said Bertram L. Lawson II, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine. “Being named Coach of the Meet is a tremendous honor and a reflection of the respect Todd has earned among his peers nationwide. We are proud of him, Owen, and Team UMLY for giving their very best during the 2025 National Swim Meet.”
With more than 25 years of coaching experience, Conrad is recognized for fostering a culture of discipline, teamwork, and personal development. He joined the YMCA of Greater Brandywine in 2020, while Edwards came on board in 2016. Together, they have elevated Team UMLY into one of the top swim programs in the country.
