CHESTER SPRINGS, PA — Students from Master Son’s Eagle Taekwondo earned multiple medals at the 2025 International Kukkiwon Open Cup Taekwondo Championship, held Sunday, October 5, at Rockland Community College’s Eugene Levy Fieldhouse in New York. The global competition drew more than 1,800 athletes from around the world, competing in sparring, breaking, and poomsae.
Representing Pennsylvania, David Son, a student at Downingtown S.T.E.M. Academy, won one gold medal and two bronze medals, while Esther Son of Lionville Middle School earned one gold and one bronze.
“I am truly proud of our students’ hard work and dedication,” said Master Instructor Joohong Son, founder of Master Son’s Eagle Taekwondo. “Their achievements not only reflect their growth in Taekwondo but also inspire others to strive for excellence.”
The International Kukkiwon Open Cup is recognized as one of the world’s premier Taekwondo events, promoting both athletic competition and cultural exchange among participants.
