EAST BRADFORD TWP, PA — A major detour is coming to a well-traveled Chester County corridor as PennDOT prepares to close a section of Route 52 (Bradford Avenue) for more than three weeks to support stormwater system upgrades across the region.
From Monday, December 1, through Wednesday, December 24, the road will be closed around the clock between Tracie Lynn Drive and Rosedale Avenue. During the shutdown, motorists will be routed along Birmingham Road, Route 926 (Street Road), U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike), Business U.S. 322 (High Street), and Route 52 (Price Street). Local access will remain available. All work is weather dependent.
The closure is part of a $15.9 million initiative to improve stormwater management on more than 90 state highways in the Philadelphia region. The Chester County work is being carried out by Highway Materials, Inc., of Flourtown.
PennDOT is urging drivers to allow extra travel time, warning that backups and delays are likely throughout the detour area.
