EAST BRADFORD TWP, PA — A key stretch of Route 52 (Bradford Avenue) in Chester County will close for more than three weeks as PennDOT replaces underground pipe infrastructure tied to a wider $15.9 million stormwater improvement program across the Philadelphia region.

Beginning Monday, December 1, and continuing through Wednesday, December 24, Route 52 will be shut down around the clock between Tracie Lynn Drive and Rosedale Avenue. Traffic will be detoured via Price Street, Route 842 (Miner Street), Birmingham Road, and Route 52 (Lenape Road/Bradford Avenue). Local access will remain available.

PennDOT is advising motorists to plan for delays, warning that backups are expected throughout the work zone and along the detour route. All construction activities are weather dependent.

The closure supports PennDOT’s broader effort to upgrade stormwater management systems on more than 90 state highways across the five-county region. The Chester County work is being carried out by Highway Materials, Inc., of Flourtown, under a project funded entirely by state dollars.
