CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that Aqua Pennsylvania will begin water main construction on Whitford Road in Uwchlan and West Whiteland townships on Monday, June 16. The project is set to continue through the end of the year, causing weekday closures and detours in the area.
The work will take place from June 16 through December 31, with Whitford Road closed weekdays between Huffman Drive and Devon Drive from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Local access will still be maintained.
To accommodate the closure, motorists will be directed to follow detours via Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway), Route 100 (Pottstown Pike), and Route 113 (Uwchlan Avenue).
Drivers traveling near the affected area should anticipate delays and are encouraged to allow extra time for their commutes. Local backups are expected due to the construction, and officials advise motorists to exercise caution.
The project will be undertaken as part of a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit issued to Aqua Pennsylvania. Completion of this essential infrastructure work aims to improve water service in the region.
All construction-related activities are weather dependent, and updates will be provided as necessary.
