NORTH COVENTRY TWP, PA — Drivers using U.S. 422 through Chester and Montgomery counties should prepare for delays next week as PennDOT continues roadway reconstruction with daytime lane closures in both directions.
At a Glance:
- Roads Affected: U.S. 422 (Westbound & Eastbound)
- Dates: Monday, March 23, through Friday, March 27
- Times: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (westbound); 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (eastbound)
- Reason: Roadway reconstruction and bridge replacement
PennDOT said westbound U.S. 422 will have a lane closure between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Hanover Street interchanges from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily. Eastbound U.S. 422 will also be reduced to a single lane between Hanover Street and Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
No formal detour is planned, but drivers should expect slowdowns through the work zones in Lower Pottsgrove Township and North Coventry Township. Plan extra time, especially during the morning and midday hours, or seek alternate local routes to avoid congestion.
The work is part of an $83.6 million project to reconstruct approximately 2.1 miles of the expressway and replace several bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.
Motorists should remain alert for changing traffic patterns and delays, particularly during peak travel periods.
