NORTH COVENTRY TWP, PA — Drivers traveling the heavily used U.S. 422 corridor in Montgomery and Chester counties should brace for delays next week as PennDOT advances a major reconstruction project along the expressway.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that roadway reconstruction will take place Monday, February 16, through Friday, February 20, on U.S. 422 in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, and North Coventry Township, Chester County.
Westbound motorists will encounter a periodic lane closure between the Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) and Hanover Street interchanges from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day. Eastbound drivers will face a separate periodic lane closure between the Hanover Street and Sanatoga (Evergreen Road) interchanges from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
PennDOT officials warn that backups and delays will occur in both directions as traffic narrows through active work zones. Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time and remain alert for changing traffic patterns.
All construction activities are weather dependent and may be adjusted as conditions require.
The work is part of PennDOT’s $83.6 million investment to reconstruct and improve approximately 2.1 miles of U.S. 422 and replace multiple bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township. The broader project aims to modernize infrastructure and enhance long-term safety and reliability along one of the region’s most critical commuter routes.
With construction season ramping up and traffic volumes already high along the 422 corridor, drivers are strongly encouraged to stay informed about lane restrictions, detours, and emerging traffic impacts.
