KENNETT & EAST MARLBOROUGH TWPS, PA — Motorists traveling along U.S. 1 in southern Chester County should prepare for overnight traffic interruptions early next week.
PennDOT announced that periodic 15-minute traffic stoppages will occur in both directions on U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) between Schoolhouse Road and the Kennett Oxford Bypass (U.S. 1) on Monday, February 23, and Tuesday, February 24. Work hours are scheduled from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning.
The temporary stoppages are required for overhead sign installation as part of a $10.4 million project to widen and improve a 1.3-mile stretch of U.S. 1 from the Kennett Oxford Bypass to Greenwood Road.
Drivers should expect intermittent backups during the overnight hours, especially as traffic is briefly halted to allow crews to safely position signage. Plan extra time if traveling through the corridor and remain alert for changing traffic conditions.
No formal detours are scheduled, but motorists may consider alternate local routes to avoid delays during active stoppages.
