Southbound St. Peters Road Closure Starts May 22 – Major Delays Expected!

Road Closed

WARWICK TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that southbound St. Peters Road within St. Peters Village in Warwick Township, Chester County, will be closed and detoured starting Thursday, May 22, due to worsening slope deterioration along French Creek.

The closure will affect the section of roadway between School Road and Rock Run Road. During this period, passenger vehicles will be rerouted via School Road, Harmonyville Road, Chestnut Hill Road, Old Ridge Road, Coventryville Road, and Route 23 (Ridge Road). Trucks will follow a separate detour using Harmonyville Road, Laurelwood Road, Cedarville Road, Route 100 (Pottstown Pike), and Route 23. Local access for residents and businesses along St. Peters Road will be maintained throughout the closure.

To address the slope instability, PennDOT plans to construct a retaining wall along the affected section of St. Peters Road. This project aims to stabilize and restore the southbound lane. Construction is slated to begin in the fall of 2024 with an expected completion by spring 2026.

Motorists traveling near the work zone are advised to allow additional travel time, as traffic delays and backups are anticipated.
