PHILADELPHIA, PA — Motorists traveling through Philadelphia and its surrounding suburbs should prepare for a busy week of roadwork as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) continues resurfacing and pavement repairs on state highways across the region. The projects, part of PennDOT’s broader effort to restore more than 200 miles of roadway, will affect routes in Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties beginning Monday, October 27.
In Philadelphia, nighttime lane closures will occur from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM on sections of Chestnut Street, Walnut Street, and Penn Square near City Hall. Crews will perform line painting operations throughout the week, with work concluding Friday morning, October 31.
Bucks County drivers can expect daytime lane closures on U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) and Knights Road in Bensalem Township from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM through Saturday, November 1. Flagging operations will be in place to guide traffic during pavement repair work.
In Chester County, single-lane closures are planned on Hibernia Road between Wagontown Road and U.S. 322 (Horseshoe Pike) in West Brandywine Township on Monday, October 27, and Friday, October 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Delaware County motorists will see nighttime restrictions on Lawrence Road in Marple Township between Route 320 (Sproul Road) and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) from October 27 through October 30. Additional milling work will occur October 29–30 on Township Line Road in Trainer Borough, the City of Chester, and Upper Chichester Township.
In Montgomery County, overnight lane closures with flagging will affect Evans Road in Lower Gwynedd Township between Plymouth Road and Route 63 (Welsh Road) from Monday, October 27, through Friday, October 31.
PennDOT urges drivers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time, as traffic delays and backups are likely. All work is weather dependent.
The resurfacing effort is part of PennDOT’s ongoing maintenance program, which includes milling, repaving, and sealing roadways to improve safety and extend the life of Pennsylvania’s transportation network.
