WILLISTOWN TWP, PA — A heavily traveled stretch of Paoli Pike will shut down for months beginning in early March as PECO Energy undertakes a utility improvement project expected to alter daily traffic patterns across central Chester County.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that PECO will begin construction Monday, March 2, on Paoli Pike in Willistown Township under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

Weather permitting, the roadway will be closed weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. between Frazer Avenue and Cedar Hollow Road through Friday, July 31. The five-month closure spans much of the spring and summer construction season and is likely to affect commuters, local businesses, and regional travelers.

During the closure, drivers will be detoured via Devon Road, Darby Road, and U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue), corridors that already experience steady traffic volumes. While local access along Paoli Pike will be maintained at all times, motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work zone or along the detour route because backups and delays may occur.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent and may be adjusted as conditions require.

With extended construction underway on a key east-west route, advance planning will be essential for drivers navigating Willistown and surrounding communities.
