CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Drivers heading west on the Coatesville Downingtown Bypass should prepare for daytime lane restrictions beginning Wednesday as PennDOT resumes roadway improvements along this heavily traveled corridor.
At A Glance
- Roads Affected: U.S. 30 West (Coatesville Downingtown Bypass)
- Dates: Wednesday, March 4 – Friday, March 6
- Times: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Reason: Pavement milling, base repairs, and resurfacing
From March 4 through March 6, a lane closure will be in place on westbound U.S. 30 between Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway) and the ramp to Airport Road. Traffic will move through the area in a reduced configuration during the 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. work window.
Motorists should expect delays and periodic backups, especially during peak commute hours. Plan extra time and seek alternate routes if possible. All construction activities are weather dependent and may shift if conditions require.
The work is part of a $9.3 million state-funded project to extend the life of the western section of the bypass through milling operations, base repairs, application of a new bituminous overlay, reinstallation of edge-line rumble strips, and refreshed pavement markings. Improvements impact travel through the City of Coatesville and portions of Caln, Sadsbury, Valley, and West Caln townships.
