Major Road Work to Bring Lane Closures Across Five Counties Next Week

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced a series of resurfacing operations scheduled next week on state highways across Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties. The work is part of ongoing projects to repair and repave more than 200 miles of roadway in the region.

In Philadelphia, motorists should expect overnight and daytime lane closures beginning Monday, October 6. Crews will be working on Kelly Drive between 25th Street and Ridge Avenue; Chestnut Street between 22nd Street and Broad Street (Route 611); Walnut Street between Broad Street and 22nd Street; Moyamensing Avenue/Penrose Avenue (Route 291) between Oregon Avenue and the George C. Platt Memorial Bridge; and Penn Square at City Hall. Work will include paving, line painting, and inlet and manhole repair.

In Bucks County, repairs are planned for U.S. 13 (Bristol Pike) between Poquessing Creek and Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) in Bensalem Township, as well as Knights Road between Route 132 (Street Road) and Poquessing Creek. Additional closures are scheduled on Penn Valley Road/Hood Boulevard between Old Bristol Pike and Oxford Valley Road in Bristol and Falls townships.

Chester County will see alternating lane closures on Saint Matthews Road in West Vincent Township and Hibernia Road in West Brandywine Township for milling and paving.

In Delaware County, Lawrence Road in Marple Township will undergo milling, with lane restrictions in place on October 8 and 9.

Montgomery County drivers should prepare for extended weeknight lane closures through October 31 on Route 63 (Main Street) in Lansdale Borough and Towamencin and Montgomery townships; Doylestown Road (Business U.S. 202) in Montgomery Township; and Evans Road in Lower Gwynedd Township. Work will involve milling and paving to restore surfaces.

PennDOT advises motorists to allow extra time when traveling through these work zones, as significant delays and congestion are expected. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
