WEST WHITELAND TWP, PA — Motorists using the U.S. 30 Exton Bypass should prepare for overnight lane closures as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) begins critical sinkhole remediation work along a key Chester County corridor.

Starting Monday, November 10, and continuing through Friday, November 21, weeknight lane closures will be in effect from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM in both directions between Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) and Business U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue). Drivers should expect delays and are urged to allow extra travel time. All work is weather dependent.

The $6.8 million project aims to provide long-term stability to sections of the Exton Bypass impacted by subsurface voids and recurring sinkholes. Crews will use a specialized grouting method, drilling a grid of holes through the pavement and injecting pressurized material to fill voids beneath the surface. The process will strengthen the ground and prevent further roadway collapse.

Additional work includes pavement reconstruction, drainage pipe replacement, and stabilization of roadside swales.

Road-Con, Inc., of West Chester, is overseeing the federally funded project, which PennDOT says will enhance long-term safety and durability along one of Chester County’s busiest stretches of highway.
