Lane Closures Set to Slow U.S. 422 Drivers Next Week

Road work - traffic alert

NORTH COVENTRY TWP, PA — Drivers in Chester County should expect daytime delays next week as PennDOT schedules lane closures on U.S. 422 for ongoing roadway reconstruction work.

At a Glance

  • Roads Affected: U.S. 422 Westbound (Sanatoga/Evergreen Road to Hanover Street), U.S. 422 Eastbound (Hanover Street to Sanatoga/Evergreen Road)
  • Dates: Monday, April 6 – Friday, April 10
  • Times: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (westbound); 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (eastbound)
  • Reason: Roadway reconstruction and bridge improvements

PennDOT said lane closures will be in place in both directions during daytime hours, reducing capacity along this key regional corridor and likely causing backups through the North Coventry area.

Drivers should plan extra time and expect delays, especially during morning and afternoon travel periods as traffic merges through work zones.

No detour has been announced. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes where possible to avoid congestion on U.S. 422.

The work is part of an $83.6 million project to reconstruct approximately 2.1 miles of the expressway and replace bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road.

All work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if necessary.
