CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Motorists traveling westbound on the Coatesville Downingtown Bypass should prepare for daytime lane closures beginning Friday as PennDOT crews resume roadway improvements along this busy Chester County corridor.
At A Glance
- Roads Affected: U.S. 30 West (Coatesville Downingtown Bypass)
- Dates: Friday, February 27; Sunday, March 1; Wednesday, March 4 – Friday, March 6
- Times: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Reason: Pavement milling, base repairs, and resurfacing
Single-lane closures will be in place on westbound U.S. 30 between Business U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway) and the ramp to Airport Road during the scheduled work periods. Traffic will move through the area in a reduced configuration, and backups are likely, especially during peak travel hours.
Drivers are urged to plan extra time and consider alternate routes if possible. All construction activities are weather dependent and may shift if conditions require.
The work is part of a $9.3 million state-funded project to extend the life of the western section of the bypass through milling operations, base repairs, a new bituminous overlay, installation of edge-line rumble strips, and refreshed pavement markings. The improvements impact travel through the City of Coatesville and portions of Caln, Sadsbury, Valley, and West Caln townships.
