CHESTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that weekday lane closures will take place next week on U.S. 30 (Exton Bypass) as part of a $6.8 million project aimed at stabilizing and repairing sinkholes in West Whiteland and East Caln townships, Chester County.
From Monday, November 10, through Friday, November 21, daytime lane closures will be in effect in both directions between Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) and Business U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Drivers should anticipate slowdowns and allow extra time when traveling through the area. All work is weather dependent.
The ongoing project addresses subsurface voids that have developed beneath the highway. Crews will use a specialized grouting process—drilling a grid of holes in the pavement and injecting pressurized grout—to stabilize the ground and reduce the risk of future sinkholes. Additional work includes pavement reconstruction, drainage improvements, and roadside stabilization.
Road-Con, Inc., of West Chester, is overseeing construction, which is fully funded by federal dollars. Once complete, the improvements will strengthen the roadway’s foundation and ensure safer, smoother travel for motorists along this critical corridor.
