WEST CHESTER, PA — Roadway construction on Business U.S. 322 (High Street) in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township will continue next week as part of an ongoing infrastructure improvement project led by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
From Monday, July 21, through Thursday, July 24, overnight lane closures with flagging will take place between Miner Street and Rosedale Avenue from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM for paving operations. Additional lane closures are scheduled during the day from Wednesday, July 23, through Friday, July 25, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM for line striping in the same corridor.
The construction is part of a $2.6 million federally funded project aimed at enhancing traffic and pedestrian safety along the High Street corridor. Key improvements include the installation of new traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, pedestrian countdown timers, curb extensions, high-visibility crosswalks, drainage upgrades, and full-depth pavement restoration.
Marino Corporation of Skippack is the general contractor overseeing the work. Construction is expected to be completed by winter 2026. PennDOT urges motorists to allow additional time for travel through the work zone, as delays are likely. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
