CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Drivers traveling through the busy U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) and Route 926 (Street Road) intersection should expect delays next week as PennDOT continues roadway improvements in Thornbury and Westtown townships.
At a Glance:
- Roads Affected: U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike), Route 926 (Street Road)
- Dates: Monday, March 30, through Friday, April 3
- Times: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Reason: Intersection improvements and paving
PennDOT said lane closures with flagging will be in place through the intersection during daytime hours, reducing traffic to alternating single-lane patterns.
No detour is planned, but drivers should expect backups and slow-moving traffic, particularly during midday travel. Plan extra time or seek alternate routes to avoid congestion at this heavily traveled intersection.
The $2.9 million project includes adding a southbound right-turn lane on U.S. 202 and a second eastbound left-turn lane on Route 926 to improve traffic flow and reduce crashes. Additional upgrades include new traffic signals, ADA curb ramps, and paving work.
Motorists are urged to remain alert, follow flagging crews, and use caution when approaching the intersection.
