Brace For Delays: Major Work Hits Route 202

Traffic Advisory

CHESTER COUNTY, PA — Lane restrictions are continuing at one of Chester County’s busiest intersections as construction moves forward at U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) and Route 926 (Street Road). Motorists should expect backups during daytime hours over the next several weeks.

At A Glance

  • Roads Affected: U.S. 202 (Wilmington Pike) and Route 926 (Street Road)
  • Dates: Monday, March 2 – Friday, March 20
  • Times: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (weekdays)
  • Reason: Intersection improvements to reduce crashes and improve traffic flow

PennDOT’s $2.9 million project will bring weekday lane closures with flagging at the intersection from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through March 20. Construction crews are installing a new southbound right-turn deceleration lane on U.S. 202 and adding a second eastbound left-turn lane on Route 926, creating a double left-turn configuration onto Wilmington Pike.

Additional upgrades include signal improvements, ADA curb ramp enhancements, milling, and paving.

Drivers are urged to plan extra time when traveling through the area. Expect slow-moving traffic and periodic stoppages while flaggers direct vehicles through the work zone. All work is weather dependent.

PennDOT officials noted that special provisions are in place to monitor impacts to the historic Westtown Inn, located at the northwest corner of the intersection.
