BERWYN, PA — A student-led robotics team based in Berwyn received the Rookie All-Star Award at the FIRST Mid-Atlantic Centennial Robotics Competition, organizers announced.
Blast Robotics, also known as FRC Team 10989, earned the award, which recognizes a first-year team that demonstrates strong performance in teamwork, innovation, and community engagement within the FIRST robotics program.
The team, operating under Keystone STEM Alliance, was founded earlier this year and has expanded its participation to more than 35 students from the Main Line and Greater Philadelphia region, according to organizers.
Team members also conducted outreach efforts that engaged more than 300 students globally and hosted workshops and community events focused on science, technology, engineering, and math education.
Organizers said the team established a dedicated robotics workspace supported through in-kind contributions and secured more than $10,000 in early-stage funding and sponsorships.
The Rookie All-Star Award advances the team to higher levels of FIRST competition, including potential qualification for district and championship events.
Blast Robotics is part of Keystone STEM Alliance, a nonprofit organization focused on expanding access to STEM education through hands-on programs and community initiatives.
Sponsors supporting the team include Cogent, Eadeh Enterprises, Comcast, the Department of Defense STEM Program, and Isolite Corporation.
