WESTTOWN, PA — The fourth annual Fore the NICU Golf Outing will be held Monday, September 29 at Wyncote Golf Club, raising funds for Chester County Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The event is organized by Nicole Frees, owner of Ducklings Early Learning Center Westtown, whose son Parker was born prematurely and cared for in the hospital’s NICU.
Frees said her family’s experience inspired her to create the fundraiser after spending nearly two weeks by her son’s side. “We were so grateful for the care, compassion, and expertise of the nurses and staff in the NICU that we decided to give back by raising funds to directly purchase equipment needed most by the NICU team, patients, and families,” she said.
Last year’s outing raised nearly $12,000, which funded three specialized bassinets designed to strengthen the connection between parents, babies, and caregivers in the unit. This year, Frees hopes to surpass that amount to provide transportation gift cards for families, additional adjustable bassinets, and Smalltalk Egg devices that help parents communicate with their babies remotely.
The Chester County Hospital NICU provides care for newborns who arrive prematurely, face breathing challenges, or need specialized treatment following delivery. Organizers say proceeds from the event will directly address equipment and resource needs identified by NICU staff, helping families during some of their most difficult moments.
