WEST BRANDYWINE, PA — A Super Bowl tradition at Freedom Village at Brandywine turned game-day enthusiasm into tangible support for local families, as the retirement community collected 200 pounds of nonperishable food for the Chester County Food Bank during its annual “Soup for the Super Bowl” drive.
Held the Friday before the championship game, the fundraiser invited staff members to donate canned goods and other shelf-stable items in exchange for the chance to wear jeans and their favorite sports team jerseys or gear to work.
All donations were delivered directly to the Chester County Food Bank, which provides food assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity across the region.
“This event not only supports our neighbors in need, but also brings our staff together in a fun, meaningful way,” said Danielle Geyer, executive director of Freedom Village at Brandywine. “It’s incredible to see how small acts of generosity can add up to make such a big difference.”
Organizers said the initiative blends camaraderie with community service, channeling competitive spirit into charitable impact. The annual drive reflects Freedom Village’s broader commitment to local engagement, reinforcing its focus on service beyond its campus walls.
