PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Wardrobe’s Returning Wardrobe program is extending its support to justice-involved individuals during a special Open Wardrobe event on Thursday, June 26. The initiative, active across five Philadelphia-area locations, aims to break down clothing access barriers for individuals recently released from incarceration, providing free attire and support services to aid in their community reintegration.
Returning Wardrobe is tailored for those with a history of incarceration who are currently unemployed, offering a critical resource to facilitate their reentry process. Although the program operates year-round, the upcoming Open Wardrobe event provides walk-in access without the need for appointments. Additionally, attendees will benefit from on-site support services from community partners, including grooming services offered at the Kennett Square location.
Returning Wardrobe is backed by key supporters such as State Representative Jordan Harris, the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, the Office of Probation and Parole, and the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. Enhanced funding, including a recent $30,000 grant from District Attorney Larry Krasner and the Philadelphia Foundation’s forfeiture fund, underscores the program’s significance in fostering community reentry.
The Open Wardrobe event will be held at the following locations:
- 62 W. Marshall Rd., Upper Darby
- 413 N. 4th St., Philadelphia
- 345 Scarlett Rd., Kennett Square
- Exton Square Mall (2nd floor near Boscov’s)
- PA Career Link Bucks County, 4800 E. Street Rd., Trevose
Attendees are kindly requested to RSVP online by visiting wardrobepa.org/open-wardrobe/.
By addressing basic needs and delivering additional resources, The Wardrobe aims to empower justice-involved individuals to establish a stronger foothold in their professional and personal lives, ensuring a smoother transition back into society.
