KENNETT SQUARE, PA — As winter tightened its grip on Southern Chester County, a caravan of donated coats, shoes, and toys arrived with a simple mission: bring warmth and relief to families who need it most.
Employees from Comcast, including members of the company’s UNIDOS employee resource group, partnered with LCH Health and Community Services to deliver winter clothing and toys to patients and community members facing financial hardship. Some of the volunteers traveled from as far as New York City to LCH’s Kennett Square location to personally deliver the donations, according to LCH officials.
The effort was coordinated by Comcast Community Account Manager Robert Sareth in collaboration with LCH staff and UNIDOS members, a group focused on community engagement and support for Latino communities. Donated items were distributed directly to LCH patients and shared with local organizations, including SILO in Oxford and The Wardrobe in Kennett Square, extending the reach beyond the clinic’s walls.
LCH leaders said the partnership reflects a broader approach to care that addresses everyday needs alongside medical services. Director of Development Kate Wickersham said the initiative demonstrates that health does not stop at the exam room and praised Comcast employees for helping bring comfort and joy to families during the coldest months of the year.
Sareth said the collaboration highlights the impact of community involvement, describing the donation drive as a reminder that small acts of generosity can help restore hope for families under strain during the winter season.
LCH Health and Community Services serves thousands of individuals and families annually, many of whom face challenges related to income, language, and access to basic necessities. Officials said partnerships with employers and community groups allow the organization to extend support beyond clinical care and respond to urgent social needs when they arise.
For families receiving winter essentials as temperatures drop, the donations delivered this season carried more than warmth — they carried reassurance that the community has not forgotten them.
