COATESVILLE, PA — As many local families grapple with the cutback of SNAP benefits, one Chester County nonprofit is stepping up to make sure no child goes without holiday joy. Shar’s Hands, a community-based organization dedicated to supporting underserved residents and honoring veterans, is hosting its annual Santa’s Workshop on December 12 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the CYWA in Coatesville.

The event will provide more than 150 families with the opportunity to “shop” for gifts for over 375 registered children. While parents and caregivers select presents, children will enjoy festive activities, snacks, and a visit with Santa himself. Every family will leave with bags of wrapped gifts ready to place under their Christmas tree.

This year’s effort comes at a critical time. With reduced government food assistance, many households are struggling to balance basic needs and holiday expenses. Shar’s Hands aims to lift that burden by ensuring that local children experience the magic of the season, even in difficult times.

The nonprofit is calling on the community to lend a hand. Donations of new toys, coats, and pajamas are urgently needed to fill Santa’s Workshop. Supporters can contribute in several ways: purchasing items from the group’s Amazon Wishlist, organizing donation drives, or making financial contributions through sharshands.org.

Residents can also help by spreading the word or volunteering at the event. More information is available at sharshands.org/event/santas-workshop or by emailing sharshandsnfp@gmail.com.

With community support, Shar’s Hands hopes to turn a season of struggle into one of hope and togetherness—proving that, in Coatesville, every hand truly counts.
