WEST BRANDYWINE, PA — Freedom Village at Brandywine announced it raised more than $6,000 in September to support the Alzheimer’s Association, surpassing its original fundraising goal. The community’s efforts culminated in its annual on-campus Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Friday, October 3, bringing together residents, families, and staff in a shared commitment to fight the disease.
Throughout the month, Freedom Village residents and employees organized a series of fundraisers, including a donut sale, soup sale, t-shirt sale, and a 50/50 raffle. Staff also participated in a “Jeans for a Cause” initiative, donating $3 each Friday for the opportunity to dress down.
Freedom Village began hosting its own on-campus walk four years ago to ensure all residents, including those with mobility challenges, could participate. The event has since become a cornerstone of the community’s philanthropic calendar.
“Supporting the Alzheimer’s Association is something very close to our hearts here at Freedom Village,” said Danielle Geyer, Executive Director at Freedom Village at Brandywine. “We’re incredibly proud of our residents and team members for rallying together to raise both funds and awareness. Every step we take brings us closer to a world without Alzheimer’s.”
According to the Alzheimer’s Association, one in nine Americans age 65 and older is living with Alzheimer’s disease. Fundraising initiatives like Freedom Village’s help advance critical research and provide essential care and support services for families affected nationwide.
