WEST BRANDYWINE, PA — Freedom Village at Brandywine closed out November with a strong show of community support, collecting 761 pounds of non-perishable food for the Chester County Food Bank through a month-long donation drive that united residents and staff in a shared mission to help local families ahead of the holiday season.
The Life Plan Community encouraged daily contributions throughout November, adding a lighthearted incentive for employees: staff members who brought in food items on Fridays were permitted to wear jeans to work. The gesture boosted participation while reinforcing the community’s commitment to service.
“Giving back is an essential part of who we are,” said Danielle Geyer, executive director of Freedom Village at Brandywine. She noted that the donations will “go a long way in supporting our neighbors” during a time when many families face increased need.
The Chester County Food Bank will distribute the collected items to households across the region, helping ensure more families have access to essential resources during the holidays. Freedom Village’s contribution highlights the important role Life Plan Communities can play in addressing food insecurity and supporting the broader community.
