Wyomissing Police Tackle Overnight Arrest, Domestic Calls, and Crashes in Busy Day

Police news

WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police responded to a wide range of incidents over a 24-hour period, including an arrest following alleged threats, multiple domestic-related calls, traffic crashes involving borough vehicles, and several public safety responses, according to the department’s January 26 incident report.

Police activity intensified shortly after midnight when officers were dispatched to Woodland Road for a reported loud argument inside a residence. Officers made contact with a male and female involved and determined the dispute was verbal, with no visible injuries. The parties were advised to separate for the night. Minutes later, officers returned to the same location for a report that a neighbor was allegedly threatening the complainant through the walls of an adjacent duplex. The involved male was warned to discontinue the behavior.

Just after 2:00 a.m., officers responded again to Woodland Road for an escalating situation involving alleged threats. Police took a male into custody without incident and transported him to central processing for immediate arraignment. The nature of the charges was not detailed in the blotter.

Earlier in the night, police also handled an automatic fire alarm on Cambridge Avenue, which firefighters determined was a false alarm, and a burglar alarm at a business on Crossing Drive, where officers found no signs of forced entry.

Daytime incidents included multiple traffic-related responses. Shortly before noon, police were dispatched to Woodland Road for a reportable crash involving a borough vehicle. Both vehicles were towed, and West Reading police handled the crash investigation. Later in the afternoon, officers stood by on Route 222 while a driver changed a tire in a hazardous location and provided traffic control assistance on State Hill Road for borough road crews.

Police also responded to several non-criminal calls, including a 911 hang-up on Leisure Court that was determined to be accidental, a welfare check on Delaware Avenue involving a verbal family dispute, and multiple civil matters involving neighbor disputes and a prescription payment issue that was resolved on scene.

In the evening hours, officers investigated another domestic-related call on Berkshire Boulevard. Police reported the incident involved a verbal disagreement only, with no further police action required.

Traffic enforcement continued into the night. At approximately 9:09 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Park Road North near North Wyomissing Boulevard after a vehicle registration returned suspended for insurance cancellation and the registered owner’s driver’s license was suspended. Police cited the driver after confirming the registered owner was operating the vehicle.

Police said a total of 16 incidents were logged during the reporting period, reflecting a mix of criminal investigations, domestic calls, traffic enforcement, and public safety responses.

All suspected criminal activity referenced in the police report constitutes allegations. Any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
