WYOMISSING, PA — Police responded to dozens of incidents across Wyomissing on March 30 and March 31, including traffic violations, crashes, a reported fraud, and emergency calls, according to the Wyomissing Police Department.
According to police logs, officers conducted multiple traffic stops early March 30, including at 3:38 a.m. on 8th Avenue at Hill Avenue, where a driver was cited for allegedly failing to maintain a lane, driving on a suspended license, and lacking insurance.
At 3:55 a.m., another driver was cited on Hill Avenue at Park Road North for allegedly running a red light and failing to maintain a lane, police said.
Police reported at 9:56 a.m. March 30, officers responded to a crash at State Hill Road and Wellington Boulevard where one vehicle allegedly rear-ended another. Authorities said one driver was transported to Reading Hospital for treatment, and one vehicle was towed.
A separate non-reportable crash at 11:05 a.m. on Crossing Drive involved a vehicle allegedly proceeding from a stop sign without clearance and striking another vehicle. No injuries were reported, according to police.
At 1:06 p.m., officers received a report of a fraud totaling $2,800 on Crossing Drive, and information was gathered for investigation, police said.
Police also responded to mental health-related calls, including one at 1:59 p.m. on Woodland Road where a subject was transported to a hospital by EMS, and another at 3:12 p.m. on Berkshire Boulevard involving a man reportedly following individuals before leaving the area.
At 7:54 p.m., officers were dispatched to Spring Street for a reported fire, which was determined to be burnt food on a stovetop, according to authorities.
Throughout March 30, police handled multiple additional traffic violations, issuing citations or warnings for offenses including stop sign violations, unsafe turns, expired inspections, and equipment issues such as non-functioning lights, police reported.
On March 31, police responded to several burglary alarms across the borough, including on Rose Virginia Road at 2:45 a.m. and Cambridge Avenue at 3:07 a.m., with officers determining properties were secure in each case.
At approximately 2:58 p.m., officers responded to a crash involving a tractor-trailer on North Wyomissing Boulevard near Route 422. Police said the vehicle overturned, and the driver was transported to Reading Hospital.
Police also handled additional incidents including reports of identity theft on Knitting Mills Way, an abandoned vehicle on Berkshire Boulevard, and a trespassing call on State Hill Road where a male was identified and released without further incident.
At 11:01 p.m., officers responded to a domestic-related incident on Court Lane at Park Road North, where information was collected and a citation is expected to be filed, according to police.
Additional calls included 911 hang-ups, suspicious activity reports, medical assists, and an animal case involving a loose dog that was later returned to its owner, police said.
Police reported a total of 61 incidents over the two-day period.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
