WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police handled 22 incidents on February 16, including a reported assault, multiple traffic violations and several burglar alarm calls, according to the department’s incident listing.
According to police, at approximately 11:01 a.m., a walk-in complainant reported an alleged assault that occurred at a location along State Hill Road. The matter was documented for follow-up investigation.
Officers also responded to a report of disorderly conduct at approximately 4:13 p.m. on State Hill Road involving former employees seeking a final paycheck. Police said the situation was resolved after the employer advised payment would be issued Wednesday.
Throughout the day, police conducted several traffic stops. At 2:02 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle on Penn Avenue near Berks Place for allegedly speeding 45 mph in a 30 mph zone; the driver was warned. Additional stops resulted in warnings for expired registration and stop sign violations, while citations were issued for lighting and registration violations at Penn Avenue and Reading Boulevard, disregarding posted signs at Hobart Avenue and State Hill Road, and expired registration with a child restraint violation at Wyomissing Boulevard and Parkside Drive South, according to police.
At approximately 10:19 p.m., officers responded to Old Mill Road and Tanager Drive for a single-vehicle crash. Police said the driver reported the vehicle allegedly skidded on ice, lost control and struck a tree. No injuries were reported, and the vehicle was towed.
Police also investigated multiple burglar alarms at businesses along Berkshire Boulevard, all of which were determined to be false alarms. Officers responded to a 911 hang-up call at Berkshire Court, where staff reported no emergency, and to reports of malfunctioning traffic lights at Old Mill Road and Museum Road, where temporary stop signs were set up and utility providers were contacted.
Additional calls included a suspicious vehicle investigation, a civil complaint regarding alleged vehicle damage at a car wash, and a report of a hit-and-run crash on Berkshire Boulevard in which the striking vehicle reportedly returned to the scene and information was exchanged.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
