WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police logged dozens of calls for service over Wednesday and Thursday, January 21 and January 22, ranging from regional BCERT activations and warrant-related activity to multiple crashes, hit-and-run reports, alarms, 911 hang-ups, and traffic enforcement, according to department blotter reports.

On Wednesday, January 21, activity began shortly after midnight. At 12:01 a.m., officers were dispatched to Route 422 near Route 12 for a reported disabled vehicle that was gone upon arrival. At 12:19 a.m., police were called to Park Road North for a welfare check involving a man in a wheelchair; officers reported the man said a friend was picking him up, and an employee allowed him to remain in the area. At 12:20 a.m., a parking citation was issued on Spring Street near State Hill Road for a vehicle parked between two no-parking signs. At 3:33 a.m., police assisted the Wyomissing Fire Department on Old Mill Road during a structure investigation after water was reported leaking from a ceiling onto electrical outlets; officers reported fire personnel assisted a maintenance crew in shutting off the water.

At 5:09 p.m., police responded to Wayne Avenue for a reported hit-and-run and said information was obtained. At 5:54 p.m., officers responded to State Hill Road for a reported burst pipe and said the fire department arrived to shut off the water.

Wednesday evening included multiple assists and a regional tactical activation. At 6:30 p.m., Wyomissing police assisted Spring Township police on Morgan Drive in Sinking Spring during a foot chase involving a wanted man; officers reported the suspect was taken into custody. At 7:37 p.m., police responded to Berkshire Boulevard for a reported hit-and-run in which the complainant said a vehicle was struck while the owner was inside a store; officers said no information was available on the striking vehicle and the complainant was given an incident number for insurance. At 8:06 p.m., police responded to the Warren Street Bypass near North Wyomissing Boulevard for a disabled vehicle; officers reported the driver arranged a private tow. At 9:46 p.m., Shillington police requested assistance on Walnut Street in Shillington for a disorderly juvenile who allegedly stated he had a firearm; the blotter indicates Shillington police handled the incident. Thursday also included an additional BCERT activation and multiple alarms. At 9:30 a.m., officers were activated for a BCERT incident on Franklin Street in Reading described as a possible hostage situation; the blotter indicates the activation ran until 12:06 p.m. At 2:03 p.m., police responded to Reed Avenue for an automatic fire alarm; officers reported fire personnel advised normal conditions prior to police arrival.
