Wyomissing Police Cite Drivers, Investigate Narcotics Seizure and Shots-Heard

WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police handled 13 incidents on February 14, including multiple traffic stops, a narcotics-related seizure and a report of shots heard near the West Reading border, according to the department’s incident listing.

According to police, at 12:50 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on the Warren Street Bypass at State Hill Road for speeding. The driver was cited.

At approximately 1:27 a.m., officers initiated a traffic stop at Crossing Drive and Berkshire Boulevard for an alleged window tint violation. Police stated that contraband was seized under Act 64, and the incident remains under follow-up investigation.

Police also reported assisting West Reading Police at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Penn Avenue in West Reading for a call involving a possible subject with a gun. According to the listing, a male was located and taken into custody by West Reading Police.

At 3:08 p.m., officers responded to a 911 hang-up call on Hill Avenue. Police said the caller later confirmed there was no emergency.

At 4:08 p.m., officers responded to Wyomissing Boulevard at Reading Boulevard for a two-vehicle crash. According to police, no injuries were reported and information was exchanged.

Throughout the evening, police received multiple reports of vehicles allegedly doing burnouts in parking lots along State Hill Road and Berkshire Boulevard. Officers reported advising individuals at one location to stop driving recklessly, and in other instances the vehicles were gone upon arrival.

At 9:09 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Reading Avenue and Penn Avenue for allegedly running a red light. Police said the driver was cited.

Shortly before 11:15 p.m., police responded to Wayne Avenue near Park Road South for a report of shots heard near the West Reading Borough border. Officers checked the area and reported no signs of a disturbance.

Additional calls included a suspicious vehicle investigation on Crossing Drive, a noise complaint on Park Road North and a report of a reckless driver, according to police.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
