Wyomissing Police Cite Drivers, Investigate Crashes and Respond to Multiple Calls Feb. 15

WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police handled 21 incidents on February 15, including several traffic stops resulting in citations, multiple crashes and a series of service calls, according to the department’s incident listing.

According to police, at 1 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on Route 12 at Route 422 after observing a vehicle allegedly failing to maintain its lane. The driver was cited.

Police reported additional traffic stops throughout the day, including a stop at Penn Avenue and Berks Place shortly after midnight for expired registration, where the driver was warned, and a stop at Spring Street and Crossing Drive for an alleged stop sign violation, which resulted in a warning.

Officers responded to several motor vehicle crashes. At approximately 6:50 p.m., police were dispatched to State Hill Road at Berkshire Square for a two-vehicle accident. Authorities said no injuries were reported and information was exchanged. Later, at Route 422 and North Wyomissing Boulevard, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash in rainy conditions. According to police, both drivers provided differing accounts of the collision and no injuries were reported.

Police also investigated reports of reckless drivers on Route 222 and Route 422, though callers were no longer following the vehicles upon officers’ arrival.

Other calls included a suspicious person complaint on Old Mill Road involving a male walking in the roadway, a report of a confused elderly female on Inverness Court, and a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot on Old Mill Road where the occupant reportedly declined to speak with police.

Officers reset malfunctioning traffic lights at Old Mill Road and Museum Road and notified utility crews. Police also notified PP&L after observing sparking and hearing crackling from a power line on Spring Street.

Additional responses included a noise complaint on Park Road North, multiple 911 hang-up calls and a report of a vehicle accident on Route 422 where the vehicle was gone upon arrival and the incident was deemed unfounded.

Police indicated all incidents remain under investigation where applicable.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
