HARRISBURG, PA — A Greene County woman has been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping and assault charges, as well as her role in obstructing justice following a double homicide committed by her boyfriend.

Shawna Smith, 26, of Waynesburg, admitted to multiple felony offenses stemming from a violent incident on February 14, 2022. According to prosecutors, Smith and her then-boyfriend, Cortland Rogers, lured two individuals to a residence where they were held at gunpoint for several hours. One victim, a woman, was severely beaten, suffering multiple injuries after being repeatedly struck and stomped.

In addition to the kidnapping and assault charges, Smith pleaded guilty to conspiracy, evidence tampering, and obstruction of justice for helping conceal shell casings tied to a double murder committed two weeks earlier. Rogers was previously sentenced to life in prison for the February 1, 2022, killings of Kevin Williford and Judy Hunter.

“This defendant was involved in a series of violent acts that terrorized this community,” said Attorney General Dave Sunday. “Thanks to the tireless efforts of the investigators and prosecutors, both defendants have been held accountable for the devastation they caused.”
