OXFORD, PA — A routine welfare check involving a child led to the arrest of a West Grove woman on outstanding charges and the discovery of suspected narcotics, according to the Oxford Police Department.
On the morning of May 24, 2025, at approximately 7:52 a.m., Oxford officers were dispatched to the area of Market and Third Streets following a report of a small child standing alone on the sidewalk. Responding officers searched the area but were unable to locate the child described in the initial call.
During the course of the investigation, officers encountered a woman identified as 39-year-old Ashley Rodriguez of West Grove. A records check revealed that Rodriguez had an active bench warrant issued by Lancaster County. She was taken into custody at the scene.
A subsequent search conducted during her arrest allegedly uncovered suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Rodriguez was transported to the Oxford Police Department before being transferred to the custody of Constables for transport to Lancaster County Prison.
The suspected substances were submitted to the Pennsylvania State Police Lima Laboratory for analysis. On July 15, 2025, police received confirmation that the substances in question did contain a controlled substance. Criminal charges have since been filed against Rodriguez via summons.
Rodriguez is now facing the following charges:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
As with all criminal cases, it is essential to note that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation remains ongoing.
