Wilmington Teen Arrested After Alleged Gun and Drug Discovery During Pursuit

WILMINGTON, DE — An 18-year-old Wilmington man faces multiple charges after police say a foot chase led to the discovery of a firearm and narcotics earlier this week.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:47 a.m. on November 4, when members of the Uniformed Services Division observed a man illegally operating a motorized scooter in the 1400 block of Northeast Boulevard.

When officers attempted to stop the individual, later identified as Hasaan Clark, he allegedly fled on foot. After a brief pursuit, police took Clark into custody without further incident. During the arrest, officers recovered a .40 caliber handgun and approximately four grams of crack cocaine.

Clark has been charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, hindering prosecution, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and illegal operation of a motorized scooter.

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $25,100 cash-only bail.

Police emphasized that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
