WILMINGTON, DE — A 15-year-old male juvenile has been arrested on several firearm-related charges following an investigation led by Wilmington Police, authorities announced this week.
The investigation, conducted by members of the department’s Gun Intelligence Unit, began in June and focused on allegations that the juvenile was in illegal possession of a firearm.
On July 2, 2025, at approximately 7:38 p.m., officers operating in the 2800 block of West 2nd Street observed the wanted juvenile. Police made contact and took the teen into custody without incident.
Following the arrest, officers executed a search warrant at a nearby location on the same block. During the search, investigators recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, which they allege was connected to the juvenile.
The 15-year-old has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, as well as possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. These new charges are in addition to an outstanding warrant already issued for the juvenile.
The suspect was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and subsequently committed to the New Castle County Detention Center pending further court proceedings.
All charges are allegations. The juvenile defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
