Wilmington Man Charged After Police Probe Shots Fired on Vandever Avenue

WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have arrested and charged a 41-year-old man in connection with a shots fired incident earlier this month.

According to authorities, officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 1300 block of Vandever Avenue on September 10 at approximately 9:21 p.m. after reports of gunfire. No injuries were reported at the scene, and the case was assigned to the department’s Gun Intelligence Unit for further investigation.

Detectives later identified Steven Negron as a suspect. On September 19, officers located Negron in the same block where the incident occurred and took him into custody without incident. A subsequent search warrant led to the recovery of a loaded 9mm handgun and a loaded .22 caliber handgun.

Negron has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, along with discharging a firearm on a city street. He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and released after posting $2,200 secured bail.

The charges are allegations, and Negron is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
