WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man has been arrested on multiple gun and drug-related charges following a police investigation into alleged illegal narcotics sales, authorities announced Tuesday.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division began investigating 34-year-old Dawune Boardley earlier this month. On October 21, at approximately 11:01 a.m., officers attempted to contact Boardley in the 2200 block of North Pine Street. Police say Boardley fled on a bicycle but was apprehended shortly after a brief pursuit.
Following his arrest, investigators executed a search warrant in the same block and reportedly recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and 25 Alprazolam pills.
Boardley has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 2 quantity, and resisting arrest.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $107,000 cash-only bail.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
